Our story

Nonna Rosa's
recipes. Our tables.

Trattoria Sera was opened in 1991 by Rosa and Marco Conti, who arrived in Winchester from Umbria with a wooden box of recipe cards and a determination to feed people properly. Rosa still makes the pasta every morning at 7am. Marco still selects the wine.

Their daughter Lucia runs the front of house now. The recipes haven't changed. The welcome hasn't either.

Rosa makes every strand herself from 7am. No machines, no shortcuts — just eggs, flour, and thirty-three years of muscle memory.

Marco's wine list
All Italian. All chosen personally by Marco on his annual trip to Umbria, Tuscany, and Piedmont. You won't find a bad glass on this list.

The Sala Rosa seats up to 14 for private events and celebrations. Ask Lucia about availability when you book.

Seasonal & local where possible
Hampshire produce where the season allows. Italian imports where it doesn't. Always the best available.
